A vision for the future.
Created by the people that live there.
Supported by those who can make it happen.
A healthier, happier neighbourhood for all
In a survey conducted by the Newham High Streets programme in December 2019, the top 3 improvements residents of E12 said they wanted to see more of in Manor Park were:
#1 - More Green spaces
#2 - More Restaurants / Cafes
#3 - More Activities for Young People & Children.
During lockdown, we put together a series of ideas to visualise what that could look like.
It’s win win.
As part of the Newham High Streets programme, residents are being encouraged to take part in shaping the future of Manor Park, E12.
Our community has the ideas, skills and passion. The council has the ability to make them happen.
The council has a unique opportunity to ‘tap in’ to a highly engaged and highly skilled community who are eager to have their voice heard and, in many cases, volunteer their time for the greater good.
Here, we’ve put together ideas that have the potential to be fulfilled via a unique joint partnership between council and community.
Goal One
Our work begins by improving the visual appeal of Manor Park through community planting and vibrant, welcoming signage.
Our focus should be to upgrade, hero and make the best of what we’ve got.
Goal Two
This will create a feeling of opportunity and a visual sense that “something is happening”.
This in turn will create a more visible value proposition for small businesses to choose Manor Park over other areas.
Goal Three
When Manor Park is seen as a place where there is opportunity, more things will "start to happen” organically.
The result of which will lead to greater prosperity and a natural reduction in antisocial behaviour over time.

Manor Park Library
Planting and a lick of paint breathes life in to a tired junction. Manor Park Library, on the corner of Romford Road and Station Road could benefit from a make over. The famous Bovril sign is restored, colourful banners promote the heart of the town and trees and flower beds make the busy junction a safer, more pleasant place to be.
Station Road
Looking up Station Road towards the station and Wanstead Flats. The branded banners, festoon lights and pretty flower beds make for an attractive business opportunity for retailers.
The potential view from Romford Road, with The Earl of Essex on the right, and local institution Army & Navy store on the left of the junction.
Weekly Farmers Market
Manor Park Road curves from the station towards Durham Road conservation area and provides a great location for a regular farmers market alongside the Community Garden. Pop up stalls, fresh produce and food trucks would bring the community together and support local retailers.
Manor Park Square
A pedestrianised and landscaped road running alongside The Blakesley Arms will create a centre point for the community to enjoy.
Painting and restoration
A lick of paint goes a long way. Shop fronts along Station Road could be restored with unified pastel colours and flower beds - Helping attract new businesses and visitors to the high street. With more on their doorstep, residents will no longer need to travel to other postcodes for their shopping.
Manor Park Playground
Finally - A place for children to play, explore and discover nature right in the heart of E12 - Located on the corner of Forest Drive and Forest Park View.
Manor Park Village Community Garden
Accessible to all, the Community Garden offers an outdoor space that can be enjoyed and maintained by everyone. Whether it’s sitting down with a coffee and book, organising a group yoga session, a picnic with friends or educating youngsters on environments and ecosystems.
